Good News For Everybody

Hey good news. I get to meet Steve Mason on Friday. I'll take photos so you all can relive it.

Now for some better news. The Seattle trip is off. Not knowing how high 2009's taxes are going to be, I'm still paying on 2008's, I can only afford to travel to places within a 400 mile radius on Columbus. So we have decided to go instead to, that's right you guessed it, GETTYSBURG. I know this is a waist of time, but your all more then welcome to join us. Where going to try June, our late July.

The Next Step...

Some of you may already know this, but I was recently accepted back into Wright State University in order to work on my Master's Degree. I have chosen a two year Public History program which means in two years I will be able to run a museum or historical site or work in the archives of a museum, a library, or a corporation. Last year's graduates from this program have already been placed in good jobs so I am excited about my prospects upon completing this degree.

In my first quarter I get to go on several site evaluations including Perryville Battlefiled and Richmond Battlefield in Kentucky. At Perryville we will be there for the re-enactment, which is kind of exciting because I have never seen a re-enactment before. I also have to start thinking about where I want to do my internship this summer. Since my area of interest is the Cold War my top spots are the Reagan Library, The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum or the Military Museum, or the Air Force Museum in Dayton where they are working with a grant to build a oral history of the techonolgy developed during the Cold War. I also wouldn't mind working at other sites including, but not limited to, Mount Vernon, Monticello, Yorktown, and or Gettysberg. The program has connections with all of these places so all I need to do pick one and make sure my bills can be covered and my current job preserved while I do my internship.

I'm excited about this. I start back to school on September 8th so I have less than two weeks to get everything in gear and so I can continue my punishing schedule of working fulltime, schooling fulltime, and studying full time, oh well I guess sleep is overrated.

SNL - La policia mexicana

The Spanish teacher inside of me thought that this was hilarious! Those of you who have taken a foreign language before will probably enjoy this as well. I showed it to my Spanish II's this week.

Eco Art - Snappy Dugouts

This is my entry to the "Eco - Art" contest at Current.com

It had to be made from trash and be "artsy."

So, it would be nice if you fellow Currenteers:
Mugglechica
Kelroy
Musicbender
Could give it a VOTE UP, and maybe a comment too!

Thanks for your support!

Here's the link if the video doesn't show up here:

Bus stuff

So, it looks like I'm arriving in Springfield on a greyhound at 6am tomorrow (the 23rd). Anyone want to pick me up? My bus number is 1364 I think, though I'm not sure how useful that is.

Something oddly familiar about this, in more ways than one.

Hitler is Hi-larrr-ious

This would be Hitler's response to that Usain Bolt guy from Jamacia getting that world record run. Good stuff, but Hitler loves to cuss so watch out.

Garden Almost Gone

The garden is almost all done. The carrots where delicious, and the Potatoes where great. We got about 15 cucumbers. Where going to make Gyro sauce and pickles with them. The tomatoes are only a week away from being totally red. I got about 100 of those, where going to can them.

My little movie about aliens of Gettysburg is on hold until I find some fake glasses, and some white hair spray. All the beards and mustaches I got are black, and I need some white ones. With Halloween just a few months away I shouldn't have any trouble finding the stuff I need in a few weeks. I have to do the old man first, he sets the pace of the movie. That's about all I've got.

John Yettaw

If you're bored, this is one of the most interesting Missouri residents I've read about, but maybe I just like good stories (hint hint to any writers).

Happy Birthday Kelroy!

Conan will blow up your car

Any cars you want to get rid of? I'm thinking a short film RotA-style might convince some people.

Bill Clinton saves Current reporters!

North Korea pardons US reporters

I'm assuming we bargained for them though, so I'm wondering what we gave Uncle Kim :(

I got a job too..

Since everyone else seems to be getting new jobs (congrats Dee Dee and Kelly) I thought I would go and get me one too. Last week I was offered a job at St. James the Less Catholic School. I will teach teachnology to grades K-8 and some Language Arts to grades 6-8. Also, I will be responsible for helping other teachers to implement the massive amounts of technology this school has into their lessons, and I will have to do the maintanenece on all of the equipment. That last part is the only thing that is a little scary, but the principal knows that I have no expereince with that and there is a person there that will help me learn all of this stuff. With there being so few teaching jobs in Ohio I am very excited!

The best part of this is I get to quit the job I have worked at for eight LONG years! Though I am leagally unable to mention their name on the internet, they have put me and many members of the family though a great deal of crap and I will not miss them! My last day there is August 12 and my first day of school is August 24. I can't wait, but mainly I can't wait for next summer when I don't have to work (that is why people become teachers, right?).

[Kelly.body ToMissouri: airplane];

I'm comin' home for a bit! Mostly to get in Granny and Papa's anniversary picture, but I'm also being summoned for a Japanese festival in St. Louis. I don't know much, but I'm told the mayor of St. L gives out free sake? If it is a fun festival, I'll be sure to make a music video or something.

Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I got a web programming contract job, so this'll allow me to travel if I want to(wish I got this before the wedding). I plan to have a big post about the job and other Seattle haps as soon as I get around to it. Anyway, here's the current plan.

August 20: land in Kansas City at 8:40 pm
August 20 to 21-24: Spend however many days in Lawrence, KS that is convenient for my mystery ride.
August 21-24: Go to Springland via friendly driver
August 21-24 to Sept 2-4: Springland

Option 1 -
Sept 2-4: Go to Lawrence, KS via friendly driver (will get ride to St. L from someone there)
Option 2 -
Sept 4: Go directly to St. Louis

Sept 4-6: Get free sake from the mayor?
Sept 7: Teleport(magic?) to KC in time for flight at 4pm

Supplies I'm looking for:
Ride from KC to Spfd somwhere between Aug 21 and 24.
Ride from Spfd to Lawrence between Sept 2 and 4 or ride to St. L on Sept 4.
Free meals and gas moneys go wherever they're due!

Though, I've been thinking Greyhound might be a better solution than all this driving. It's about $30 between KC and Spfd. Do you put your luggage under the bus?
