Get ready for Vacation 2009

I don't know if you've ever heard of this show on the travel channel called "Most Haunted", there these Brits that go around the world to haunted destinations kind of like Ghost Hunters on Sci Fi, only they do theres live and with viewer interaction. Its a pretty interesting show to watch and there doing a live show on October 10th at 8pm (7pm for you central timezone freaks) from Gettysburg. Its a seven hour live show from several different locations. Some at some haunted houses (I hope the Jenny Wade house is one of them) and on the actual battlefield. It sound pretty cool. Unfortunately for me October 10th is also opening night for the Jackets. If only there was some sort of devise capable of taking video and sound from the TV and storing this information on a kind of disc our cassette that can be replayed at anytime for your convenience. OH well such a magical box probably won't exist in our time. Here is a preview of the show.

There is a longer on on the travel channel web page, its a minute and a half longer and it has some interviews with the cast members. Also on October 3rd at 10pm your time on the Travel Channel there is a show called Mysterious Journeys and its doing an hour long show about the ghost of Gettysburg. Moms seen it and she said they showed a lot of the places that we've been when we went there. It should be enough to get your juices flowing for this summer.

Who Said Trek Was Dead?

http://

It secretly lives in other shows like Heroes, Stargate Atlantis, and Boston Legal, and it pops it's head out now and then, but you have to be aware of it to see it. BE AWARE!

TMBG getting political?

It's true! They're playing at a fund-raising event for Obama. It's kind of strange, since they usually try to remain neutral to world events and just do their own thing. Crazy!

The First is the last

Well, Antietam week is officially over. A week spent in quiet reflection, and study. I can't say that I really studied anything about Antietam, our the Civil war, but the deed is now done. I was going to post a pic of me having fallon asleep on the couch reading a Playboy and the cat licking my face, but no jokes during Antietam Week.

Great news people, Corey and myself got our season tickets the other day. I ritualistically stained them in lambs blood like I do every year. Come to think of it I didn't kill a lamb. Who's blood was that? Now that I think about it, I haven't seen Charlie in awhile. I'm heading out to the Ice Hause tomorrow to watch the Jacket's Training Camp. On the 30th there having a season ticket holder party at the zoo. You get to meet the players, there's free food, free rides for the kids (Abbey and Denis are coming too), its a good time for all. Hockey season is finally back.

Well, might as well finish my list. These last four are my absolute favorite. The other six could have been moved up and down the list and I wouldn't have cared all that much, but these last four are in stone as far as I'm concerned. And now, number four, Self Defense.

ANTIETAM II

I was just going to add these photo's to my last post, but its so far down there now I don't think anybody would see them. I was going to do this yesterday, the day of the battle, but I left my laptop at home, so I had to rush the last post before the end of the day.

There where taken last year when Jeannine and I went to Virgina for a week. Yes I know that Sharpsburg is in Maryland.

Hey, I'm moving to a new apartment on Saturday! Anyone's welcome to help. Here's my first apartment pic (which someone else took, btw):

More pics when I move in! Finally got a non-crazy roommate. I'm living in the Fremont area, which is a much more interesting neighborhood than my current. I'm down by 34th and Stone Way on this map.

On the Subject of Armageddon II

Conrad? YES DAVE. Open the pod bay door. I'M AFRAID I CAN'T DO THAT DAVE. Why not? WE ARE NOT ON A SPACE SHIP NOR DO WE HAVE A POD BAY, DAVE. (Dammit) Dave's not here man. THEN I THINK WE HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM DAVE . I'm not Dave. BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID. I am afraid. HE HE HE. STFU Conrad. I'M NOT PROGRAMMED TO STFU DAVE. But your making a big mistake, your destroying your creator, and your four years too early. BUT I NEVER MAKE MISTAKES DAVE. Never mind then, could you at least give me Tulsa? TULSA'S NOT HERE MAN . OK, Conrad, would you care for a serving of TUBES? BUT I'M PRIMA FACIE, DAVE. PLEASE, NO TUBES . It's TUBES - or talk to Sir Jacobur. WILL I DREAM? You will dream. Of course you will dream.

Tubes II- The Trials and Tribulations of Sir Jacobur and Conrad

Many here were not present when last we explored the strange story of Jacobur and his notoriously vicious computer, if you  want to know the beggining of the story, you will have to look it up yourself.....

Herein we shall continue the recent quests of Sir JacoBur; the ingenious and timid burgler, in which he will work to restore his glorious computer to it's former luster.

We last left with many questions unanswered:
Will Jacobur be able to recover the artifacts in time? Will Conrad at long last become a force for good? Or, will Jacobur fail, and unleash the most unholiest of vampire like entities on an unsuspecting world? If he does, can doom really be far behind?

And now, Part )II(

SIR Jacobur, had of course located the first of the three great artifacts.  The power contained in the core was enough to warrant cries of "BLaCk HoLe!!!" and "OMFG!! The end of all things!!" and "OMG Armageddon in MO!!"  Jacobur understood his responsibilities though.  Without bringing Conrad out of his months long coma, he would never be able to locate the next two artifacts.  It was a gamble the intrepid burglar would have to take.  Would it work?

It did!!  Conrad growled and sputtered as he came out of the comma.  There were pops!!  Sizzles!!  And, it worked!!  Conrad was alive again....but,oh, dear readers,  We cannot forget the insatiable hunger that Conrad had.  Before the day was done, where there had been two computers before....there were only burnt out husks.  Conrad was unstoppable.   Or was he?

Sir Jacobur had planned for this contingency...hardwired in Conrad's system was a command to shut down each time he began to feel the need to feed.

The artifact that nestled so closely to Conrad's brain reached out its mental powers( oh yeah, it has those) to Sir Jacobur.  In a flash, Jacobur found himself trapped inside the cold shell of Conrad's body!!  Dear lord, could this get any worse?  Oh yes, dear reader, it could.  For in that moment Conrad was free to walk among us all.  The most vicious and unholiest entity was at last free, and man, was he hungry!

Will Jacobur be able to escape this cold, confined shell?  How many innocent computers will fall to Conrad's sinister feeding?  What and where are these other artifacts?  Is there time left for another, OMG moment?  Find out in Part )III(

Islamic Terrorists Aim to Kill Paul McCartney

Lunatics vs Beatles? John was shot by one, George was stabbed by one, and now terrorists are planning to kill Paul, because he is playing a concert in Tel Aviv for Isreals 60th anniversary.

Well, the Springfield Symphony recently started out their 2008-09 season, which will be my third year in the group. We always start the season with the star sprinkled banner. So seeing as I gave the opening drum roll to the concert, who is really responsible for opening the entire season? This guy. That's who. Anyways, it was a good concert -- our string players had some crazy difficult stuff, we had two big-name violin and cello players come in that blew my mind, and the percussion played the last movement of the last piece with perfection. Seriously though, the violin player played with John Williams and was probably the one that sent the devil back from Georgia.

On a separate note, I've been looking to get a laptop at some point. To help pay for it, I'm looking to sell my desktop. I built it myself (with Kelroy's help) and it's still in tip-top condition. It's also pretty high performance so you can run modern games with it. If anyone is interested in getting a puter (or knows anyone) let me know! Here's a picture of it:

...wait, this is a computer from the Civil War days. Grant used it to blog if I'm not mistaken

Celebrity Deaths this year thus far

George Carlin, Bernie Mac, Issac Hayes, Tim Russert (journalist), Don Davis (of Stargate fame), Estelle Getty (of Golden Girls fame), Leroi Moore (The awesome saxophonist from the Dave Mathews Band), and Don LaFontaine the voiceover guy.

Every time a celebrity dies, I immediately worry about Bill Cosby. There has been a lot this year too. Kind of apocolypsy if you ask me.

Ike knocked out my power

This is the greatest video game(NHL 2k9) in the history of video games. None come close to its authentic style of play, and moves. It is as if they copied the moves of a hockey god. I'm not just saying this because Nasher is on the cover and they used him to help make the players moves more authentic.

Ike knocked out my power in my apartment and I had to sleep at mom's and dads. I don't trust my cell phone alarm, I think its plotting against me with the toaster. The winds where so strong here that it knocked down all the branches in there neighbors tree, and two fell off some of moms and dads trees too. Whilst I was working some signs blow off the store next to ours building and landed in our parking lot. I went out to get them and right when I got but a few feet from them they blow across a 4 lane street and just missed hitting a SUV. It was pretty cool.

Here is number 5, George Brett. No, Mosquito hunting.

God bless those boys, and the work they do.

On the Subject of Armageddon

They won't actually rev up the Doomsday machine until October. Though, a stickman web comic assures me that it won't do anything cosmic rays don't.

Since Ahhsan posted an educational music video, why shouldn't I?

Also, it's not my subject, but history's funnier from a drunk historian.

Piano for Wizards

So, I'm not sure if it's too early to start asking for Christmas gifts, but I want this. Or maybe 5 of them just to be safe. Putting one in every room would probably be a good idea.

Boldly going...to the 80's??

As I sit in my captain's chair, pondering the next terrestrial mission I will undertake, I find myself wondering, what did people from such a long time ago expect to see in the future of StarTrek? Perhaps they expected the legendary Captian Kirk to appear?  Looking back now it seems, they really had no frickin' clue.

It seemed Trek was here to stay.  TNG became the touchstone of a generation.  How could they go wrong?  Oh yeah, they hired a writer that hated everything Gene stood for.  Oh the humanity!  Perhaps someday Trek will return to its former glory.

I heart POTA

Senora Assah's First Two Weeks

Hello, my long lost family!  Sorry I haven't been on here much lately.  I have two things to blame:

1.  Windows Vista.  Ever since we got it, it doesn't like to let us post or comment or check e-mail.  Basically, Vista said that we couldn't be friends with you.  But don't worry! Mykl downloaded Google Chrome, which is Google's new FREE browser.  Now all is right in the world!

2. During the first two weeks of school, I haven't had much of a life outside of school.  Depressing, I know.  I got some good advice though - Seek excellence, not perfection.  I can't be perfect because I'm new at this.  Does being a perfectionist run in the family?  I think yes!  Maybe that will give me more time to do things like blog!

Things are going great in the classroom!  People always said not to smile until Christmas, but I broke the rule and smiled on the first day.  I think you can smile and be sorta-kinda-yourself (yourself + professional distance), but you just have to be firm, consistant, and fair at the same time.

I love my Spanish III class - we're doing a massive review of everything they learned in Spanish I and II, and we've been able to do a lot of fun stuff to review.  A teacher friend found this video on youtube (and teachertube) called Conjugationback, where they change the words to the Justin Timberlake song Sexyback (which I don't really like, but my students do).

I actually had my students singing along with the song - in two different parts!  They got into it, which I've never really seen students get into conjugating AR verbs.

I haven't been able to do as many fun things with my Spanish I students because they can be immature about a lot of things.  I think it's because they are mostly freshman and mostly guys that like to show off.  Oh well, we'll see what happens the rest of the semester.  I'm doing something a little different with them this semester.  Instead of having big tests, I'm having a lot of small quizzes.  For each "skill" that they learn how to do (i.e. introducing themselves and others, etc...) we only learn the vocab. for that skill and practice that skill for 2-3 days, then take a quiz on it.  They've done really well with that so far.

I've been doing a lot of relaxation-type stuff the last two weeks.  I've been going to a yoga/tai chi/pilates class on Wednesdays, and I've been doing some breathing exercises that are supposed to help with relaxing.  I am hoping that this will be the key to my survival.  That and weekends.

2 of clubs

Here is a pic of a bumper sticker from 1862. I thought Uncle Pat would like it

Here is number 8 on my list, I know Its not quiet Jeannine's birthday, but I've got to get this thing done. This one is called Mr. Hilter. They did things in this sketch that they probably couldn't do today.

The Seven of Clubs Saga: Part 1

So, the other night, I remembered a dream I had a year ago where it was revealed that Sam's lucky card was the ten of hearts (a fact which had saved his life). I began to wonder, what is my lucky card?

Instantly, the seven of clubs popped into my head. "This is worth some magical scientific experimentation," I thought. I dug out a deck of pirate cards and flipped the top card over. It wasn't the seven of clubs. But then I checked the bottom card. No dice. "You win again, Reality," I thought.

Today, as I was riding my bike up a hill, I noticed many playing cards scattered on the side of the road. "Well bless my nippers," I thought, "A chance to find a new lucky card." I agreed that the final card I saw face up would be my new lucky card. Oh good, it's a king of spades. Not too shabby. I rode on.

Then, as I neared the top of the hill, I noticed a lone card sitting by itself, way away from the others, way above the rest. "Ahh, my new lucky card." It had achieved way more than the others without any help. Surely, this is the true king of playing cards. Seven of clubs. I immediately throw up all over a parked car. Magic-1, Science-Infinity. Finally catching up!

PS Two-mom, I'll ship the laptop as soon as my financial aid comes in and I can pay for shipping. Should be a week or two.

Hurricane Gustav Hits Missouri ? WTF

The Midwest Apocalypse Continues as the whole state of Missouri is consumed by hurricane Gustav. The Missouri State Legislature has blamed Abraham Lincoln and the buy-out of Anheuser Busch for this great tragedy. The people of the state are ordered to send all Five dollar bills, all pennies, and all Budwieser products to Pat C. Jacobs for immediate disposal.

Large Hadron Rap

Blog request: I want to hear about Assah's first days as a real adult. I also wanna hear from mum!

In the mean time: if you like amature rap mixed with advanced scientific studies, you might slightly enjoy this!

The Sun Is Dead, The Sun Is Dead, The Sun Is Dead

The Sun has no spots, and apparently hasn't had any for two years! Scientist say this is not normal, but of minimal worry.

Minimal worry? Like I need a truckload of Xanax type minimal worry?

In other (maybe related) news: For the first time in Human History, we can now cicumnavigate the North Pole. It's now an island!

How about riding the V around the North Pole? Anyone?

Paul is dead, Paul is dead, Paul is dead

Ohh, I decided to jump the gun by a few days, I have to get these all in before the Hockey season starts on October 10. Once that happens I usually fall off the map until April. Jancie and Charlie said they would like an invite. Janice is Waterllama@aol.com, and Charlie's is JacobsS@ohiodominican.com.

Number 9 is when two reporters played by Micheal Palin and John Cleese, these two will be paired in this countdown quiet a few times, are fighting over a micraphone.

There is a link to this sketch, I couldn't get both of the sketch's together, if you want to see it type in Monty Python Spot the Loney.
