Happy Birthday Great American Hero

Today, December 31, we celebrate the birth of one of the greatest American hero's. A man who helped bring about a change in the Civil War, an Man who fought in every single campaign of the Army of the Potomac, except First Mannassas, and who would lead the army to its greatest victory, and would lead it through the overland campaign and eventually force Robert Lee to surrender at Appomattox. In fact, its safe to say that if it wasn't for this man, there would be no Pres. Obama.


Happy 193rd birthday Major General George Gordon Meade, victor of Gettysburg.

American celebrates Meade's birthday with a countdown to the end of the day, in New York they drop a ball to celebrate the end of Meade's birthday, and to mark the beginning a another year until we will celebrate it again. Ohh yea, happy f$#*ing new year. I always have the same resolution every year, and every year I always fall short. I resolve not to be as nice as I was last year. Some how I'm always nicer at years end then I am at the beginning.

Going Old School

When Jeannine and I drove to Gettysburg I maintained the old tradition of singing along to all the old They Might Be Giants songs. I put They Might Be Giants up to and including Factory Show Room on my I Pod. My hard drive brook after that so when I get my new one I'll have to add the other ones to it. Its funny cause I still remember all the lyrics, and the number they are on the CD. Also cause I haven't listened to them in a few years, they now have a whole new meaning now that I understand the songs. Ball and Chain really has new meaning "sure as you can't steer a train, you can't change your fait, and when she told me off that day I knew I'd lost my home"

Also Charlie still hasn't received an invitation, email it to UpChuck97@aol.com. Now that she is out of school she has more free time on her hands.

Ohh So Many Things

Well, congratulations to Grand Charlie, she graduated from Ohio Dominican on Saturday, now she can teach kids how not to do math and science.

Second, a very very very happy first birthday to my buddy, the "Little Man" Dennis. He can crawl around faster then any baby I've ever seen, he can crawl up the stairs in less then 20 seconds, and he can talk a bit now. He says "Uncle Joe", and "fishes". He also loves Dr. Pepper, and can use a spoon like a pro.

Vacation 2009 is Not That Far Away

I tried to find that Family Guy where Stewie and Brian are at Gettysburg but apparently You Tube and Fox are arguing over You Tubes rights to play that episode, so just keep watching on Cartoon Network if you haven't seen it. Got back from Gettysburg on Sunday, I was just making sure it was still there. I don't know how I did on my little test, I'll find out in a few weeks. I don't even know if I'll take the job if I make the cut, I'll make that choice when and if I have to. I'd probably be an idiot to give up a job that I currently make $18.00 an hour and when I go full time could make over $30 an hour. But no one ever said I was smart.

They have a brand new visitors center, it is very big with an awesome gift shop, they got books, Victorian style jewelry, jams, and all sorts of interesting stuff. We spent a few hours just in the gift shop alone. I only bought a book while I was there, but Jeannine bought a lot of stuff. All the other shops on Stienwarner Ave, and Baltimore street are still there. We didn't have much time to see the battlefield, only a few monuments, I saw the new Longstreet and 11th Mississippi. Its right behind the North Carolina Monument.

This is the North Carolina monument, done by the same man who did Mt. Rushmore. I told them not to charge cause there state would only end up voting for a black man for president in 145 years. Kind of the opposite of what they where charging for. Probably turning in there mass unmarked graves as we speak.

I know Kelly has said that he would stay in Columbus and help dad set up his church's festival, I told Gramdpa you wanted to help him, but if anybody else wants to go the Colton Motel is $55 a night for a two bed nonsmoking room, the hotel also has a pool, and is right next to all the shops and restaurants. I was planning on staying two our three nights. If you want to stay in one the haunted Bed and Breakfast they run from $145 a night to $300 a night, and those go awful fast so you'll need to let me know. I'll be staying in the Colton Hotel.

Just a heads up if you wanna go, you don't have too, Grandpa can use all the help he can get setting up that festival.

This Is My Milwaukee

Ok, so it turns out this is one of those "Alternative Reality" games. The main site is here. You'll notice a countdown in the corner going to January 16th at noon. In the mean time, lots of clues have been surfacing and can be read about here. Also, it's all very hilarious.

So, usually with these, it ends up being a huge ad campaign. So, this may end up being for a video game or tv show. Go do some detectoring!

Look What I Bought

I got some cool stuff when I was at Gettysburg, Here is a picture of the book I bought.

It weighs over 20 tons, I had to rent a semi trailer just to get it home. The FIT had a hell of a time hauling it over those mountains. It takes 20 grown men just to turn one of its pages.

We also went to Antietam for the Candle light vigual. They light a candle for every soldier killed our wounded during the one day battle at Antietam. That adds up to 23,210 candles. I took some pics but there not that good cause I was driving with out headlights and photographing at the same time. Jeannine took some to that I hope are better, and she video taped it too. If I can get that on the computer I'll put it on the blog. Here is one of my poor quality photographs.

Of course TMBG already has one Grammy for "Boss of Me" in the category "best song written for a motion picture, television or other visual media", referring to Malcolm in the Middle. This new one is for "best musical album for children" for "Here Come the 123s". I've never heard of the other ones, so I bet they'll win.

Other predictions: I bet they make a Lego Harry Potter game. It makes too much sense!
