For Those of You About to Fly . . . We Salute You

Just some things you might want to pack for the Emerald City

~ A raincoat type device, preferably with hood

~ Umbrella device

~ Good hiking shoes (recommend spray-on waterproofing stuff)

Even if we end up hiking downtown, these are still recommended.
Looks like it might be wet there, according to the weather channel.

~ Oh ya, bring things to throw at Kelly!!!

Happy Birthday Dad (Grandpa our Uncle Mike)

Happy 56th Birthday Dad. Oddly enough it is also Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's birthday. I'm sure that makes Two-Mom happy. Actually April 27th is a very historic day.

1521 Battle of Mactan: Explorer Ferdinand Magellan is killed by natives in the Philippines led by chief Lapu-Lapu.
1773 British Parliament passes the Tea Act (Boston won't like this)
1805 First Barbary War: United States Marines and Berbers attack the Tripolitan city of Derna (The "shores of Tripoli" part of the Marines' hymn).
1805 Naval forces capture Derne, Tripoli; raise first U.S. flag over foreign soil
1810 Beethoven composes his famous piano piece, Fr Elise.
1861 President Abe Lincoln suspends the writ of habeas corpus
1865 Body of John Wilkes Booth brought to Washington Navy Yard.
1942 Tornado destroys Pryor Oklahoma killing 100, injuring 300
1972 NYC Mayor John Lindsey appeals that John Lennon not be deported
1978 Former Nixon aide John D. Ehrlichman is released from an Arizona prison after serving 18 months for Watergate-related crimes.
1981 Beatle Ringo Starr marries actress Barbara Bach
1989 Beijing students take over Tiananmen Square in China

Mi jardín bonitísimo

I am growing oxygen! And the best part is that I get to eat most of it. I am currently an apartment dweller, and my patio never gets direct sun, so my options are limited. But I decided to try a container garden.
Here's my container garden so far! I have three pots of leaf lettuce, one of oregano, two of zucchini, three with flowers (no blooms from two yet), and one azaela bonsai, which is currently not doing so well.
Inside, I have a Gold Capella plant, which is supposed to be good for indoor air quality. And I have a small bamboo plant that I've had for several years - don't know how it's still alive.
I always thought I had a black hand of death when it comes to plants, but only one of them is dying so far! Yeah!

All Good Things

Well, its over, got swept. The Red Wings are the better team. We only really showed up for the last game. We lost that 5-6, and we gave up the winning goal with less then a minute. The first three games however, it looked a lot like this.

The real problem is that now I have nothing to do for five months.

Springfield Business Journal's 2009 40 Under 40 Photo Shoot

My first video!

We are starting to do online video at my work and I'm heading up the effort since I'm the web editor. This is our first one. It's a promotional piece for our 40 Under 40 awards event next month. Not the most interesting thing I know :) We had a photo shoot for the award winners and we took footage there. Then our graphic designer and I produced this. It's a little simple and amateur, but I'm kind of proud of it as our first attempt. At some point soon, I'll be incorporating video onto our Web site with news stories, instead of just promotional stuff like this. Exciting!

In Honor of 300

Now I wish I had waited on the 300 Holy Grail.
In honor of the 300th post, I will share this video of a car being smashed by a rocket sled. This was on last weeks Mythbusters. If you haven't seen this yet, watch the high speed, its really cool.

A New Chapter Begins

Thursday, 7:00pm, 6:00 central, on Versus, Jackets Vs the Red Wings. This is the video they showed at the home opener. I apologize for the poor quality of the video, there is a better one, but it doesn't have crowd reaction.

Wings are heavy favorites, and I have to agree. I just hope we don't get swept.

298th Post

Exactly how long has this blog been going? I know Riley set it up, but being of feeble mind, I don't remember when it was created.

Anyway, I noticed that DeeDee's post was the 297th making this the 298th. Should we give some sort of prize to the person who posts the 300th?

For instance, 300 chimpanzees or maybe 300 book lights. 300 fish heads might be do-able especially with Kelly so close to the fish market.

300 days in jail? 300 teeth? Or maybe it could be something green--300 red worms to eat your leftovers and spill onto your bathroom floor. (kidding, Alli)

Should I be the 300th poster, I would like $300,000,000 so I can pay a bunch of taxes.

I am probably just a dork, but I cannot stop watching this video! This woman moved me to tears. She is phenomenal. An absolute inspiration.

OK, no more touchy-feely posts on this blog from here on out. :)

61 things on my cat

Another song by Sam Hart, the guy who originally wrote "Mario Kart Love Song." Enjoy!

Some summer planning (Updated)

Ok, here's how it's lookin for me

April 17th: finish classes
May 3rd: Put on my robe and wizard hat, grab my degree and run
May 4th: Don't go to a sold out Shins show :(
May 5-7th: Fly to KC with everyone else, ride to Spfd on top of a van
May 17th: NOM NOM NOM
May 19th: Attend Bre's flatulation
May 22nd: Go to KC, watch TMBG (ride can get free tickets!)
Sometime after May 22nd: Back to Seattle

Summer: enjoy myself while chugging along on my Thesis, probably go to a wedding

Some insight I'd like: First of all, if people wanna give me rides. Also, I'd like to know from the people with visiting plans when their flights are so I can coordinate. I'd also like to know from these people if they'd like me to buy a Shins ticket for them.

24 Years in the Dessert, and I Finally Found Some Water

For over two decades I have wondered through the dessert, looking for water to quench my thirst for playoff action, many times thinking I had come close, but only find that I was fooled by a mirage. The Royals came close in 2003 but came up short, the Jackets finished just a few points out last season, and Jeff Gordon came really close the first year that I started following Nascar. The worst is having to watch others around me enjoy watching there teams in playoff runs. St. Louis is almost always in the run, and won the World Series a few years ago, Ohio State won the National Championship in 2002 and went back two times more only to lose, but at least they made it, the men's basketball team made it to the Championship game of the NCAA tournament a few years back, the Indians have made it to the world series twice, and had several other playoff runs. The Caves Drafted Lebron James and are the best team in the NBA and have a playoff streak going now. The Bengles and the Browns have even been to the playoffs, Corey got to watch his Stealers win two Super Bowls, even the lowly Columbus Crew won the MLS cup last year. But finally after twenty four years of wondering the dessert (literally in some cases wear oddly enough I had no problem finding water) last night it all came to an end. And fittingly enough it would be Rick Nash in dramatic fashion who would score the tying goal to send us into overtime and give us the point we needed to get to the playoffs for the first time.

Ya, I know, a bunch of cutesy little rodents eating stuff to a cutesy little song.
Meh . . .

Well, I just posted this so you all could see the original version.
My next post will be my own interpetation of NOM NOM NOM.
Not quit so cutesy, a bit more violentsy, but 100% natural in content.

Don't Shoot the Puppy

Don't Shoot the Puppy

This game's really hard, even after you figure it out.

YOu have to burn the rope

This one's much easier. In a crazy turn of events, it was nominated at IGF for innovation!
