What to Want

Here is what tops my Christams wish list

It's called the Kendle Book. It can hold up to 200 books and has a special white and black screen to make it look like paper and eliminate glare. It takes less then a minute to download a book and put it on the Kendle. Books cost from$5 to $9.99. Most of the books I bye cost between $30 to $60. It also takes up less space. You should see my book shelf. Unfortunatly there are only a few civil war books available for the kendle, but Amazon.com now has a window where you can send a request to the publisher to have there books available in Kendle. I've already requested about 30 books. This kind of looks like those pads they have on Star Trek.

Good to be back

Today was the first home game of the season. Its about time to, at one point I became so disoriented that I agreed to go to a lake in southwest Missouri with my idiot relatives...Oh, I guess that's you guys, oh well, I stand by it. The Jackets won 5-3 against the Predators. Nasher had two of the goals, one on the power play. Jordan Tootoo, the guy who was attacked bye a wolf when he was eight, and also killed the wolf (I think he as also killed a bear armed only with a spear), was there as well. That guy is a jerk, I really don't like him all that much, he's what you call an agitator. The highlights are on my Gen. Meade blog.

Before the game they paid tribute to John H. McConnell (Mr. Mac). The founder of the Blue Jackets. Columbus is the 15th biggest city in the United States, and before 2000 we where the largest city in America with out a professional sports team (Buckeyes are a college team). Since Ohio already has two baseball and football teams, Hockey was about all we could hope to get. In the late 90's the NHL announced they where going to add four teams. Columbus put in a bid and was approved, however they had to build a state of the art arena to house the team. The city put a Levy on the ballet, and it failed, they tried again and failed, then they tried on more time and it got voted down as well. The NHL was about to walk away from Columbus, but when Mr. Mac, founder of Worthington Industries, heard that the city he loved was about to be passed over for a professional sports team said that "If no one else will build this arena, then I will." He wrote a check to build an arena, and the rest is history. Mr. Mac passed away this summer, he always said that the Blue Jackets where his gift to the city that gave him so much. In the opening ceremonies the crowd all stood up and tipped our hats to Mr. Mac. There is a whole bio on him on the Blue Jackets web page.

Watch Out Behind You!!!

I thought everyone could use a break from the political heat, so I'm going to advertise some goings-ons this weekend. First, if you haven't had a chance to check out the band show I wrote, Nixa will be playing at the MSU stadium around 2:30. It's a big competition so I think tickets are 5-8 bucks or something like that.

If you like big bands and big jazz, the Springfield Symphony is doing a show with just that. I have free vouchers for those that want to come. I'll be playing the big jazz vibes and big jazz donkey congas all night. There is even optional dancing! (not you Ahhson)

Also, I heard through the grapevine that Mykl is turning 16 this weekend. So go see him and wish him well on his sweet 16 or whatever.

Lastly, Dee Dee will be working at the Home Remodeling Expo from 12-2 on Saturday (which sounds like a BLAST) so if you are into stupid crap like that you can join her. She says she doesn't know where it's at so good luck with that.

It would seem that me and Bwiley's world saving over the summer were in vain, for Secret of Mana has just been released on Virtual Console on the Wii and now we have to do it again. Also, people can play it on their giant TVs without a lot of inconvenient technology now.

More importantly, this is the first major Square game to hit VC. No doubt, they will view the sales of this classic to determine if they release any others from their arsenal (though, I sincerely doubt we'll see Chrono Trigger or FF6 as those are still making money on handheld systems). So, if you have any extra Wii points, feel free to buy it, or just send it to others (me?). Nintendo may even look at sales to determine the release of Earthbound. GOPHER IT.

Hockey is offically back, Preseason is over and we've already got two games under our belts. Last Friday was the first game of the season. We all went over to Corey and Janice's house to watch it. It was an up and down game but they came through in the end. Nasher won it with only 20 seconds left in overtime. Since I know you guys really don't care I put the highlights of the game on my Gen. Meade blog. If you want to see it (yea right) just click on my name and click on my Gen. Meade blog in my other blog list. I could try and keep you up on the Wings if you want, just let me know.

I still havn't watched the Most Haunted Gettysburg, so I have no idea if it was good our bad. Dad recorded it for me, but its seven hours long so it may take me a few days to watch it. Charlie still wants to be on the blog. Apparently the last E-mail adress I gave you was no good. Try UpChuck97@aol.com, that one should work. I'm not sure why Jancie hasn't wrote anything yet, must be a big baby.

Ohh well, might as well try and finsih this list of mine. Number 3, Archaeology Today, another Cleese-Palin clasic.

Pizza House Update

KY3 says Pizza House's last day was today :( I thought we had more time to eat at that location one last time. I think it will reopen with a celebration Oct. 31 at its new spot, which is 312 E. Commercial St. We need to go to the big opening party! Sounds like a good way to celebrate Halloween to me.

Hey Kelly, you might like this, not just because it's ukulele, but you might recognise this song from "The Life Aquatic". Then they sync in a few other songs while simultaneously playing "Life on Mars". Jesus wept.

Wow, not good.

First I would like to apologize. That show last Friday was not all that good. I can only hope the seven hour one this Friday is better. Don't get me wrong, the show had its good parts. I like the part with that man who set his camera up on a tripod and took three pics just a few seconds apart. He had some good pictures down at Devil's Den. The one with two Confederates was really cool, and they where only in one of the three pictures. I may try that the next time I go to Gettysburg. Dad said I can barrow his tripod.

I didn't like the psychic they had in the show. I didn't believe her at all. The part that really made me mad was when they where in the barn that was a hospital during the battle. She said that she saw a man with a double button uniform on, which means he was a general officer. Then she said that he was telling her that he was in Ewing's brigade, which there was no such brigade, then the mans wife made the ultimate mistake, she said "You must mean Ewell's Corps". You never say anything to the psychic, never give any information, you let them tell you the story. So of course she says "Yes Yes Ewell's corps. His name is Issac Tremble, and he died her." WRONG. Tremble didn't die at Gettysburg, he was wounded during Pickets charge, but he lived through it. Now I'm willing to admit that in Lee's 75,000 man army there may have been more then one Issac Tremble, but not General Officers like she said she saw. In fact at the time of his wounding he wasn't even in Ewell's Corps, he was in Hill's Corps. I think this lady read a little bit about the battle and tried to make stuff up. Its a pity for here she didn't finish the book.

I also didn't like the conclusion they made about the shadowing figure in the background in that other woman's picture. I think the picture its self is authentic, but they tried to say that it looked like Robert E. Lee. No it didn't. The figure in the picture was a portly man with a long beard. Lee was not portly, and he didn't have a long beard. Second, why would Lee still be at Gettysburg, he didn't die there, nor did he dwell on it all that much after the war. It wasn't until long after the war and Lee's death five years later that people started thinking that Gettysburg was the turning point. When Lee died his last words where ordering A.P. Hill into the battle of Antietam. Surly Lee placed more importance on Antietam then Gettysburg.

The last thing I didn't like was when they where in the Hotel in downtown Gettysburg. The same "psychic" said that there was somebody in the bank vault with them and the his hame was Colberston, our something like that, its been a few days since I saw the show. Then they used there EVP our EMP device, some recorder that can record sounds that people can not hear. Its actually a pretty cool little device. I would like to have one, I'm sure its not cheep though. They asked the spirit a bunch of random questions, one was who is the President? When they got back and listened to the recording there is a clear response to that question and it said "Johnson is the President." Pretty cool. But then they researched casualties of the battle and found a Colberston who had been killed and he fought for the Pennsylvania Reserves. Wow, first, the Penn Reserves fought south of town near little round top, non of there wounded would have found there way into town, second, why would someone who died in 1863 say Johnson is the President when Lincoln was the President. Its makes me mad that this Ghost is talking to them, but there not listening to what its saying.

Ohh well, sorry to recommend that show to you. Hope that Fridays is better.

Emerging from my Web Coma

The pinnacle of my career so far is here!

For those of you who may not know, I'm the Web editor for a weekly business newspaper here in Springfield. My company just launched a redesign of our Web site on Wednesday, a project that I headed up for about the last year. It has been a l-o-o-o-n-g and tiring process, but also really rewarding and educational. Particularly, the last 6 weeks or so have been chaotic, and this Web site has truly ruled my life! I've been putting in a ton of hours, scrambling to get this behemoth ready for Oct. 1. Our go-live moment came and went with too much of a hitch, thank you Web gods. Now I'm consumed with tracking down and fixing bugs, and there are plenty.

I'm pretty excited about the site. Our previous site provided daily local business news and a few other things, but it was pretty simple. It was fantastic and won us a lot of praise – but technology moves fast, and to keep up in the industry of Internet news, it was time to upgrade a 3-year-old site. The new site is 100 times improved in terms of navigation, I think, but we also have tons of new features, like photo galleries, including ones where people submit their own photos; a blog that our newsroom writes; areas where people can post comments on articles (which is pretty much expected in the industry nowadays); discussion boards; and a bunch of relevant news pulled in from all kinds of other sources.

I would love it if you guys took a look! Feel free to give any feedback, even bad. I always want to make it better. The site is pretty much my baby ;) I'm very attached ... but also a little tired of it after spending so many hours with it over the last few months, ha! Here's a link.

And now that the site is finished, it's time to par-tay! And to take a VERY long nap.

New DS (sorry Riley and Dee Dee)

They're getting rid of the GBA slot, and adding a slot for an SD card, so you can put music, pictures, and other things on it. Also, they're opening up an online DS store for downloadable games (virtual console?). It will be slightly thinner, and the screen will be slightly bigger, and it has some built-in memory to store games and junk. Also, it has a camera (640x480). It has it's own web browser too (bout time).

Japan gets this thing in November, but for some reason we won't see it until well into 2009. LAME.



More importantly, this concludes the things I predicted for this year. One was a new DS, which I actually gave up on after E3. Other things: McCain was going to pick a lady or a black guy for a running mate, sony and microsoft were going to start copying Wii this year, and I forgot the others... I'll add them if I think of them.
